BETTA PINGUIS (Tan & Kottelat, 1998)
Betta Pinguis is one of the betta fish from B. Akarensis Complex.
There are currently 73 recognized species in this genus. The currently described Betta species can be grouped into complexes for conservation purposes (This grouping of species makes no claim at representing a phylogenetic reality).

Distribution:
Type locality is given as ‘Sungai Letang near Kampung Kandung Suli, Kapuas basin, Kalimantan Barat, Borneo’, and this species is known only from the middle and upper Kapuas watershed in Kalimantan Barat province, Indonesia (Borneo).
